Family Vacation

From splashing down water slides to camping lakeside, there are plenty of kid-friendly activities, making the NC Triad a dream locale for your family getaway. Use the trip builder tool to help plan your vacation.

Visit the North Carolina Zoo

From Art in the Park to zoo tours, there’s always something going on at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. Home to over 1,800 animals, the zoo features animal exhibits, walking trails, a carousel and butterfly garden, and the Zoofari adventure.

Go on an Outdoor Adventure

With four state parks, outdoor activities like hiking and boating, and diverse attractions, from Boone’s Cave Park in Lexington to Wet ‘N Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro, you’ll want to spend much of your time in the Triad outdoors.

Play & Learn

The Greensboro Science Center is an all-in-one attraction for education and conservation, featuring an on-site aquarium, museum, and zoo.

In Winston-Salem, you and your family can enjoy a hands-on experience at Kaleideum North and Kaleideum Downtown, featuring science exhibits, themed play stations, and more.

Try One of These Restaurants

After a day of exploring Greensboro, hit Hops Burger Bar for locally-sourced, all-American cuisine. Create a customized burger or choose from a selection of signature dishes. While in Mount Airy or at nearby Pilot Mountain State Park, grab breakfast or lunch at Snappy Lunch, an old-school diner.

For something sweet, stop in and order a famous Moravian sugar cake or cookies at Wilkerson Moravian Bakery or Winkler Bakery, both in Winston-Salem.

Go Camping

Skip the hotel and camp with your family in a tent, RV, or cabin. Popular camping spots, which feature developed and primitive sites, include Uwharrie National Forest and Pilot Mountain State Park, where you’re always near adventure.
